وقعوا على الرسالة المفتوحة ضد العنصرية ووحشية الشرطة

كمواطنين من مختلف أنحاء العالم، فجعنا بمقتل شخص جديد على أيدي أفراد شرطة الولايات المتحدة. ونعلن تضامننا مع جميع المتألمين.

يجب أن تتوقف عمليات القتل الوحشية. كل جريمة هي جرح جديد في قلب الإنسانية ووصمة عار لن تمحى عن علم الولايات المتحدة العظيم.

يساهم الصمت في تفشي العنصرية، لكننا لن نصمت بعد الآن. مواجهة العنصرية مسؤولية تقع على عاتقنا جميعاً، ولن نتخلى عن هذه المسؤولية.

لن نسمح للكراهية بأن تقود معركتنا ضد العنصرية، لأن قلوبنا لن تكون عندها أكثر رحمة من قلوب من نواجه، ولن نتمكن هكذا من إحداث التغيير المرجوّ. بكلمات الدكتور مارتن لوثر كينغ: "لا يمكن طرد الظلام بالظلام، وحده الضوء قادر على ذلك ولا يمكن للكراهية أن تطرد الكراهية، وحده الحب قادر على ذلك!"

انطلاقاً من هذه الروحية نطالب أهل السلطة بالتحرك فوراً، ومساءلة الرئيس ترامب وحكومات الولايات والحكومات المحلية الأمريكية عن:
ضمان مواجهة جميع الضباط المتورطين في مقتل جورج فلويد للإجراءات القانونية اللازمة،
طرد ومحاكمة عناصر الشرطة عند استخدامهم القوة المفرطة ولو لمرة واحدة، أو لعدم تدخلهم إن كانوا شاهدين على استخدام للقوة المفرطة.
ضمان إجراء تحقيق مستقل وشفاف عند كل عملية قتل بيد عناصر الشرطة.
ونحن نتعهد القيام بدورنا من خلال مواجهة الخوف والغضب والجهل والعنصرية بالأمل والحب والقوة والإيمان بإنسانيتنا.

As citizens of different parts of the world, we are struck by the killing of a new person by United States police personnel. And we express our solidarity with all the sufferers.

Brutal killings must stop. Every crime is a new wound in the heart of humanity and a stigma that will not be removed from the great flag of the United States.

Silence contributes to the spread of racism, but we will not remain silent anymore. Confronting racism is a responsibility that belongs to all of us, and we will not abandon this responsibility.

We will not allow hatred to lead our battle against racism, because our hearts will have no more mercy than the hearts of those we face, and we will not be able thus to bring about the desired change. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King: "Darkness cannot be cast out with darkness, only light is capable of it, and hate cannot drive away hatred, only love can!"

It is in this spirit that we call upon the people of power to act immediately, and to hold President Trump, the state and local governments of America accountable for:
Ensure that all officers involved in the murder of George Floyd are faced with the necessary legal measures,
Expel and prosecute police officers when they use excessive force even once, or if they do not interfere if they bear witness to the use of excessive force.
Ensure that an independent and transparent investigation is conducted at every killing by the police.
We pledge to do our part by confronting fear, anger, ignorance and racism with hope, love, power and faith in our humanity.

هذه هي الكلمات الأخيرة لجورج فلويد، الرجل البالغ من العمر ٤٦ عاماً والذي مات أثناء عملية اعتقاله، بعدما ركع فوقه أحد عناصر الشرطة واضعاً رجله فوق عنق فلويد لمدة قاربت ٩ دقائق:

"إنه وجهي يا رجل

ثم أغلق جورج فلويد عينيه وتوقف عن التوسل، لتعلن وفاته بعد ذلك بوقت قصير.

قد تمر هذه الحادثة مثل سابقاتها من حوادث الموت التراجيدي على أيدي عناصر شرطة الولايات المتحدة، لكننا نملك القدرة على تحويلها إلى شرارة تعلن بدء المسير نحو التغيير.

نحن حراك مؤلف من ٦٠ مليون شخص، حينما نصرخ بصوت واحد، يسمع صوتنا من به صمم من المسؤولين. لذا، دعونا نرفع الصوت عالياً مع جميع من يطالب بإنهاء جرائم القتل العنصرية لدفع المسؤولين نحو التحرك.

وقعوا على هذه الرسالة المفتوحة وعندما نجمع ما يكفي من التواقيع، ستعمل آفاز على نشرها في كبريات الصحف والمواقع الإخبارية في الولايات المتحدة والعالم. فلنجعل منها نشيد إنهاء القتل وتكريم الضحايا الذين فقدناهم سابقاً.

These are the last words of George Floyd, the 46-year-old man who died during his arrest, after a policeman knelt upon him, placing his foot over Floyd's neck for about 9 minutes:

Then George Floyd closed his eyes and stopped begging, to announce his death shortly thereafter.

This incident, like its predecessors, may pass through tragic deaths at the hands of the United States police, but we have the ability to transform it into a spark that announces the beginning of the path towards change.

We are a movement of 60 million people, when we cry out with one voice, our voices are heard by officials. So, let us raise the voices loudly with all those who call for an end to racist murders to push those responsible to act.

Sign this open letter and when we collect enough signatures, Avaaz will publish it in the major newspapers and news sites in the United States and the world. Let us make them applaud the end of the killing and honor the victims we previously lost.
