In our contemporary world, some of the voices that try to promote normalization policies are attempting to create a false image of reality by beautifying the actions of those who normalize relations with the Israeli occupation. These normalizers, in the eyes of some individuals, have become heroes working for peace or the service of their peoples, while in reality, they represent the greatest betrayal of the Arab and Islamic nations. Attempts by certain Arab regimes to justify normalization with the occupation, whether through diplomatic, commercial, or cultural relations, amount to an implicit recognition of the legitimacy of this occupation and its brutal practices against the Palestinian people and the Sahrawi peoples. In recent years, we have witnessed a noticeable increase in attempts to normalize relations with this occupation, through media reports and government officials attempting to portray it as a step towards achieving stability. However, the truth is that normalization with the occupation is, in essence, collusion with the crimes perpetrated by the occupation against the Palestinians.
The famous Egyptian saying, "Labbis al-khunfisa, tibqa sitt al-nisa" (which roughly means "Put on the cloak and you’ll become the best"), remains a powerful symbol of the lies and fabrications that some attempt to sell when it comes to normalization. The normalizers present themselves as though they possess wisdom and the ability to achieve peace, at a time when the world unanimously acknowledges the daily crimes committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people. Despite their attempts to beautify the image of the normalizers, normalization remains the greatest crime against the Arab and Islamic peoples. It is, in reality, an unforgivable betrayal and a blind step towards destroying any hope for a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
Those who promote normalization try to deceive others into thinking that Israel has changed and is now a partner for peace. But the truth is that Israel, since its establishment, has sought only expansion at the expense of Palestinian and Arab rights. So why is some seeking to justify normalization? Normalization is in direct contradiction with all that our forefathers and ancestors fought for. Liberation and the right of peoples to self-determination were at the heart of their struggles. Thus, normalization stands as the greatest crime against the Arab and Islamic peoples. Normalization amounts to legitimizing the occupation, giving it political cover, while it only contributes to strengthening its dominance over the Palestinians.
