Algeria: Strengthening the Internal Front and National Cohesion Amid Internal Challenges and External Threats
Prepared by: Researcher Hassouni Mohamed Abdelghani
In the context of rapid regional and international transformations and the resulting political, security, and economic challenges, Algeria organized a national forum entitled “Strengthening the Internal Front and National Cohesion Amid Internal Challenges and External Threats.” This event was held by the Military Institute for Documentation, Evaluation, and Foresight under the Ministry of National Defense, at the Army Club in the capital.
This forum took place at a critical juncture that calls for the unification of national efforts across all spectrums and components, especially in light of the increasingly complex geopolitical situation in the region and the growing waves of non-traditional threats targeting the national state's integrity and internal cohesion.
This strategic and scientific event marked a key milestone, bringing together various security, military, and media entities, alongside representatives of ministerial sectors, embodying the principle of institutional partnership in the face of the growing challenges of the current phase. The forum also reflects the commitment of the high military leadership to enhancing the coordination system among the bodies involved in national security, by supporting the internal front and promoting national cohesion as the first line of defense against all attempts of infiltration and destabilization.
The gathering of national elites under one roof, sharing ideas, visions, and analyses, falls within the broader effort to establish a culture of collective security, which places the citizen at the core of the comprehensive national defense strategy.
The forum emphasized the necessity of intensifying joint work through strengthening institutional dialogue and building bridges of trust among various national stakeholders, ensuring solid internal readiness capable of absorbing shocks and responding positively to developments, without compromising national principles or neglecting the confrontation of dangers.
This scientific gathering carries a significant symbolic and moral dimension, as it enhances the status of the People's National Army as a republican institution that safeguards national sovereignty and popular unity. It also serves as a platform for training and strategic thinking, offering researchers and specialists a space to contribute to threat analysis and the proposal of practical solutions based on field data.
Moreover, the involvement of media actors underscores the importance of strategic communication in guiding public opinion and mobilizing national energies, serving as an effective tool to bolster morale and strengthen national spirit.
The cohesion between the components of the state, both civilian and military, is no longer a temporary choice but an existential necessity in a world governed by transnational alliances and interests. Events like this forum help shape a comprehensive vision of the mechanisms to confront challenges—particularly in the context of cyberattacks, systematic media campaigns, and fourth-generation warfare, whose tools are unconventional and subtle yet devastating in the long term.
Thus, this forum is not merely about exchanging expertise or adopting mobilizing rhetoric; it constitutes an additional cornerstone in building the modern national state, one that derives its strength from the unity of its people and the resilience of its internal front.
It also serves as an opportunity to assess current challenges and anticipate future scenarios, relying on scientific analysis and a realistic vision that takes into account the specific Algerian context and the historical relationship between the people and sovereign institutions.
Additionally, the forum’s outcomes offer a fertile ground for developing public policies in the field of national security, linking them with sustainable development plans that ensure social stability and prevent disparities that could be exploited by external parties.
Here, the vital role of the military institution emerges—not only as a deterrent force but also as a developmental actor and knowledge partner across various domains. The inclusion of national talents and researchers in this kind of event confirms that Algeria relies on its own sons and daughters in crafting its sovereign project, insisting that internal fortification must stem from popular will and national knowledge, not from imported recipes or superficial solutions.
Based on this, strengthening the internal front is inseparable from promoting a culture of dialogue, openness, and coexistence. It cannot be achieved without valuing national memory and accompanying societal developments with a high sense of national responsibility.
In this light, national cohesion becomes a reference framework for reshaping the relationship between the citizen and the state, enhancing popular legitimacy and strengthening trust in the institutions of the Republic.
In conclusion, this national forum reflects an advanced awareness of the concept of comprehensive security and sends a clear message that Algeria—with its leadership, army, and people—is capable of facing challenges and confronting threats through its unity and institutional strength.
